Project Overview:
This El Dorado Hills project transformed a traditional interior into a modern, open-concept home centered around a high-end custom kitchen, upgraded architectural details, and improved energy efficiency. Condor Builders managed the entire process from structural framing and rough utility updates to final custom finishing details.
Before the new layout could take shape, the site underwent significant prep work and demolition. Our team handled complete teardown of the old space, exposing walls down to the studs to upgrade rough plumbing and electrical infrastructure.
From there, we prepared the open floor plan to seamlessly house a completely reconfigured kitchen layout.
The main focus of the renovation features dark modern flat-panel cabinetry extending to ceiling height, paired with premium quartz countertops with subtle veining and a waterfall-edge detail.
The space was equipped with an undermount stainless steel farmhouse sink, high-arc professional faucet, and a built-in wall oven and pantry unit surrounding the refrigerator.
Beyond the kitchen, Condor Builders rebuilt the home’s main staircase-replacing outdated carpeting with custom solid wood treads, clean white risers, and a matching natural oak handrail for a elevated entry look.
To boost natural light and home energy performance, we replaced older windows with high-efficiency Weather Shield dual-pane windows framed in dark trim.
Continuous light oak-tone hardwood flooring was installed across the main living areas to bring cohesive warmth and flow to the entire home.
Every phase of the project, from design and material selection to final county inspections, was handled directly by our team.

Key Lessons From This Project
Why Gutting to the Studs Protects Your Kitchen Investment
A high-end kitchen remodel relies on what lies behind the walls. Opening up the framing allowed our team to update aging plumbing and electrical lines to safely support modern heavy-duty appliances, built-in ovens, and LED lighting layouts. Addressing structural framing and utilities before cabinet installation prevents costly utility relocations or hidden issues down the road.
The Impact of Cohesive Interior Upgrades
Renovating a kitchen while leaving surrounding elements outdated can disrupt a home’s overall visual flow. By combining the kitchen overhaul with carpet-to-wood stair conversion and matching hardwood flooring, the space feels unified and deliberate rather than pieced together over time.
The Energy & Aesthetic Value of Modern Window Packages
Upgrading older windows to energy-efficient Weather Shield glass doesn’t just lower HVAC utility bills – it changes how light interacts with the home.
Frame selection matters: choosing modern dark frames creates sharp visual contrast against clean walls and complements custom dark kitchen cabinetry.
